Ontario Adventure Racing Points Series
Rules & Regulations:
Ontario Adventure Racing Points Series (OARPS): The OARPS is comprised of a series of team-based adventure sport events taking place in the province of Ontario, Canada. Teams must compete in participating events to collect points. Teams will be ranked according to points collected from their three best races during the season.
Team: For the purpose of the OARPS any team competing in any of the participating events will receive points. Teams may draw from a roster totaling 6 team-mates. Points will be allocated to teams based on their unique team name. If two competing teams have the same name, they must inform the Points Committee of their respective team rosters. If a team decides to change their name partway through the season, they must inform the Points Committee. Teams can be Coed, All-Male, or All-Female in nature. Teams with multiple teams competing in a single event can only count the highest ranking team in that event towards their OARPS total. Individuals may compete on different teams throughout the year. Teams may be comprised of individuals from any province, state, or country.
Categories: Coed, All-Male and All-Female categories will be recognized in the series.
Available Points Per Event Category: *New for 2010* Each Category in every event will have 100 points available.
Point Allocation: Points are allocated to teams based on their overall result in their respective category. First place will receive the total number of Available Points Per Event Category. Each subsequent team will receive points based on the following formula (Available Points – overall rank + 1).
Distance Considerations: For events with multiple distance options, teams completing the longest course will receive the maximum number of Available Points, while teams completing a shorter course will be ranked behind all finishers of the longer course.
Team Configuration Considerations: For events with multiple team configuration options, i.e. teams of 2, 3, 4, or 6 allowed in the same event. All configurations in the same category will compete against each other evenly for the purpose of the OARPS.
Adventure Run & Non-Navigation based events: In keeping with the traditional theme of adventure racing (i.e. team-based, multi-sport, navigation-based events) points from only one adventure run, and only one non-navigation based event may be included in your teams total for the points series.
Individual Event Rankings: Rankings received from the various Race Directors will be considered final. If your team would like to dispute a ranking, contact the appropriate Race Director.
Ties: Ties will be decided by looking for the most recent event where both teams competed against each other. The highest ranking team from that event will rank higher in the overall standings.
Prizing: Each event in the series has agreed to provide one free entry into their 2010 event for prizing. That's over $4,000 in race entries up for grabs. A draw will be held at the end of the season where the top 3 teams in each category will be able to select the entry of their choice. Race entries contain no cash value, any unclaimed, or un-used entries will expire at the end of the 2010 season.
